It will be available for viewing at the SED 2001 near Milton Keynes from the 16th May to the 19th May. If any body is interested in coming, please contact us and details will be sent. It is hoped that sufficient interest is shown in the Tatra Truck and we will be able to successfully market the Tatra concept in the UK. The main design features of the TATRA chassis design concept are :- An air cooled engine, all wheel drive and a sturdy central load-carrying tube with swinging half axles all round. The axle kinimatics together with the backbone tube make a stable basis to carry a body that is exceptionally immune to side rocking, which makes it possible for the truck to go off-road at high speeds with only minimum vibrations. These trucks have been designed for rough operational conditions on purpose, they have not been derived from on-road vehicles as is common practice elsewhere. With this accumulation of specialist off-road technology it’s no wonder that a TATRA truck was the 1st truck home in the PARIS-DAKAR 2001 rally, including all of the cars and buggies the TATRA truck finished in 19th place overall.
