Tatra Lorry To Help MAF Assist Second Wave Flood Victims

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 22 (Bernama) — The Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) has obtained an additional asset in the form of a seven-tonne Tatra lorry, following its efficient handling of the relocation of 38,323 flood evacuees in the east coast states and Johor early this month.
MAF Chief Gen Tan Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zin said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had given the go-ahead for the additional asset.
However, a formal application would be made to the National Security Council which coordinated the needs of government agencies in times of disaster, before the lorry was handed over to the MAF, he told Bernama recently.
Besides the Tatra, MAF’s EC725 Cougar helicopter also displayed excellent work in ferrying trapped victims during the flood.
