“The guys are in hospital for observation. Petr Almáši suffered a concussion and an injury on the side of his head, and Aleš [Loprais] has a broken vertebra. But the doctors here – as well as Czech doctors who saw the x-rays – say the injuries are not that serious, and I hope that both will be out of the hospital in the coming days or maybe a week or so.”

The TATRA 815 2T0R45 „Livescore“ special racing truck prepared in a close cooperation with TATRA developers beat all competitors including MAN and Scania trucks. Tomáš Tomeček proved again there is no question about TATRA trucks being unbeatable in demanding off-road conditions. Hard roads in the desert, metalled roads, wadis, broken stony areas, “camel grass”, soft sand, endless or steep sand dunes, in all these conditions the TATRA was the quickest truck to drive and it arrived safe at the Pink Lake in Dakar. The Letka Racing Team represented the TATRA brand in the best possible way and pointed out again an efficient design and careful work of all the TATRA staff. Along with Tomeček’s special truck, the Tatra 815 Dakar “Asistence 4×4” truck and two Balai trucks were able to cope with the extremely difficult African terrain and reached the finish; these trucks provided their services and background to many competitors during the whole race. The TATRA’s victory feels even greater as the Letka Racing Team, in the total ranking with no difference in categories, reached Dakar as the second vehicle of all. The TATRA beat a plenty of world-famous racers knowing the Dakar Rally very well, which shows how difficult the off-road conditions were. Our congratulations go to the Letka Racing Team and especially to Tomáš Tomeček!
