MARTIN JANIK LEAVES TATRA MUSEUM

In Koprivnice 16. 3. 2006 Dear friends of Tatra and museums in Koprivnice, it is my obligation to inform you, that I decided to leave Technical museum Tatra in Koprivnice from 31.3.2006. My possition will be covered by Mr. Radim Zátopek from described date. Please believe me, that this important decision was realised carefully and for long time. I am proud for a lot of work we did with my colleagues in Technical museum. We are here to create values and protect traditions, but we also solve many tasks that are invisible for common visitors. Let me evaluate and summarize in brief, please. It is nearly six years from my first meeting with some of you here in the museum. Without any doubt I can write here that it was a marvellous time. There was certain progress in our museum and also in whole mother company – Tatra. We got over various events during the past and now new exhibitions were open last year (Zatopek’s museum, Schustalla’s Villa). Now the reopening of Fojtství museum is expected. Let me invite you all to them… We were also successful with getting the money from EU funds to cover the costs for promotion. Soon you will find the results of this activity – free materials in four language mutations. Also the whole run of our museum is more efective now. All important divisions were put into contact for you thanks the email. More info you will find through the new website which is just beeing prepared. One of the most important activity from my point of view is the digitalisation of our archives. In the future this will be wery helpfull tool not only for people interested in history. Now we have quite solid base, which is getting bigger and bigger every day. Unfortunatelly it is without acces of public. A lot of technically oriented questions has been solved during my stay here in the museum. Sometime we were able to bring you detailed answer in a minute, sometime you got only parts of the mosaic we had or facts came out after longer research. Anyway, we were able to answer more than 1000 telephonical and email questions. Many of these cases were copies of technical documentation during the last year. I hope you understand that these numbers are unique in comparison to the amount of our staff. It is not clear thing. I would like to ask you for further patience to allow us do the most suitable solution for you. Especially in CZ you should meet various forms of media presentation regarding our museum and its history. We has been seeking all available distribution channels, to broadcast our passion for these affairs. Besides the regular printed periodicals, it was possible to hear or see us in radio or TV and see our vehicles on various external exhibitions and contests. I have a great regard for all my present and former colleagues. It would not be so easy to realise a lot of ideas without them. I would like to also thank you for your present interest in Tatra, its history, museum and other related matters. Our work should newer have any sense without you. Let me say thanks to all of you for any form of cooperation (that means in human and also in professional dimension). I believe that you will keep in touch with our museum in the future. Martin Janík curator sbirek – Technical museum Tatra
