HOT NEWS: HANS LEDWINKA SELECTED IN THE EUROPEAN AUTOMOTIVE HALL OF FAME

Back in 2005, www.tatraworld.nl and its editor Kees Smit took the initiative to get Hans Ledwinka, the famous Nesselsdorfer Wagenbau, Steyr and Ringhoffer-Tatra engineer, a well deserved place in the European Automotive Hall of Fame. Seeking support, www.tatraworld.nl started a poll where visitors could vote whether Ledwinka belonged in the European Automotive Hall of Fame. The results were astonishing. More than 5350 visitors (87%) supported the idea while close to 800 visitors (12%) voted against. Nearly 400 visitors took the opportunity to leave a comment. The selection panel of the European Automotive Hall of Fame, which consists of retired CEOs and other former auto executives, chooses each year from a list of some 75 personalities who contributed in a major way to the European industry. Regrettably, Ledwinka wasn’t selected in 2006. The honours went to others. However, we are now proud to announce that the selection panel has voted to make Hans Ledwinka a member of the European Automotive Hall of Fame this very year. The official induction will take place at a special gala dinner at the Hotel InterContinental in Geneva on Tuesday, March 6, 2007. The other inductees this year will be: Bela Barenyi, Walter Bentley and Bruno Sacco. More information you can get from the Hall of Fame website: www.autohalloffame.org.
