U.S. NEWS

Designing a New World 1914-1939″, will be glad to hear the all the exhibits have moved tot the U.S. Only exception is the 1938 Tatra T 87 of the Munich Modern art museum. But the Corcoran Gallery found a replacement! (by John Long) Here are some pics of my Tatra moving into the Corcoran Gallery in Washington, DC and it made the front page of Sunday’s Washington Post. I lent my T77a to the Corcoran Museum and Gallery for the Victoria and Albert Museum’s “Moderism” show that is traveling. The Corcoran is the second oldest art museum in the US. What excitement, with about 30 people and a rigging company that came to move the Tatra into the museum. The museum is across the street from the White House and so there is security and CIA all over the place, the museum closed the street early Saturday morning and and the rigging crew ramped the many staircases to move it in the museum. A large helicopter came and picked up the president, for the weekend, I guess and things got a lot less tense with all the police after that. It took a while to drain the oil and gas before winching it through the front doors with about 5cm/2 inches to spare on each side to get it into the lobby. This will be the centerpiece of the showwhich is being publicized quite widely. The Washington Post photographer came to take pictures and we got a 1/3 page photo with an article and a little picture on the front page that tells you to flip to the article. http://www.tatraworld.nl/T77aLongWashington2007.zip Corcoran: http://www.corcoran.org/exhibitions/press_results.asp?Exhib_ID=185 Washington Post”: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/03/03/AR2007030301054.html http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/03/16/AR2007031600543.html http://www.poststar.com/articles/2007/03/20/ae/today/35e77d2eeed8c877852572a4000c129c.txt http://www.autoexpo.in/LiveAutoexpo/NL14jan/4.pdf
